The Brief

Grimsthorpe Castle is a country house in Lincolnshire, England, 4 miles northwest of Bourne on the A151. It lies within a 3,000-acre park of rolling pastures, lakes, and woodland landscaped by Capability Brown. While Grimsthorpe is not a castle in the strict sense of the word, its character is massive and martial – the towers and outlying pavilions recall the bastions of a great fortress in classical dress.

It's a great day out with lots of facilities. One of these, the Coach House tearoom, was undergoing an exciting refurbishment. The team at Grimsthorpe asked Zest Marquees to provide a marquee structure for a temporary tearoom by the rose garden.

The Challenges

Vinteage hosted the temporary tearoom, and the marquee was required for the entire season from April to October. The location was in the beautiful gardens, and the aim was to have a structure that complemented the beautiful surroundings. Customers of the tearoom are a broad demographic, and the facility needed to be safe and secure from the British weather!

The marquee had to be set up in plenty of time for fitting out of electricity and water feeds so the tearoom could provide a complete service offering from the start of the season. Access to the site was limited, and set up had to be arranged when the Grimsthorpe Castle was closed to the public. !

The Solution

The structure was 6m x 12m, and the set-up included a complete side of panoramic walls to ensure customers could view the beautiful garden without obstruction. We provided hard flooring and carpet to ensure the temporary tearoom had a solid base for its customers. As the marquee was a long-term hire, the anchorage was particularly critical, so we deployed double pins on each leg.

The Result

An aesthetically pleasing marque structure sat neatly in the Rose Garden of the beautiful grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle. The hire's success was such that we repeated the set-up the following season to support the Castle's facilities for an additional season.

Team-building activities are essential for fostering collaboration, boosting morale, and strengthening workplace relationships. But instead of the usual boardroom setting, why not take your corporate event outdoors? Hiring a marquee offers a versatile, weatherproof space where your team can engage in fun and meaningful activities without the constraints of an indoor venue.

Rustic weddings have become popular for couples looking to celebrate their big day with a natural, charming, and relaxed atmosphere. A marquee provides the perfect blank canvas to bring your rustic wedding vision to life while keeping guests comfortable, no matter the weather.

Planning an event involves a lot of decisions, but one of the most critical is selecting the proper size marquee. Whether hosting a wedding, corporate gathering, birthday party, or festival, the marquee size can make or break your event. Too small, and your guests feel cramped. It is too large and can feel empty or a waste of budget.
