Case Study : Looking after the Cars

The Brief

A red sports car is parked in a parking lot next to a white fence.

The largest gathering of Aston Martin sports cars in history took place  when the Aston Martin Heritage Trust (AMHT) held a Festival celebrating the centenary of the oldest surviving Aston Martin car, ‘A3’.

A total of 681 Astons, including hugely rare and genuine one-off creations, descended on the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Warwickshire, in the UK, to honour the landmark car’s birthday, providing a timeline of the British marque’s hisory.

Aside from A3 itself, examples of almost every period of the brand’s 108-year history was represented, from pre-war Aston Martin and Lagonda models through numerous Sir David Brown era cars right up to today’s range of sports cars and the DBX SUV.

Zest Marquees were asked to provide multiple marquees - the major one being required to cover these fantastic cars ...!!

The Challenges

Two old cars are parked next to each other under a tent.
  • To create a secure, safe structure needed to cover very expensive vehicles
  • Works closely with Aston Martin Heritage Trust team to ensure the flow of visitors could easily view the cars
  • Time pressures existed - arrival and removal of the prestige cars had to carefully planned and build/collection of the marquee structures had to be undertaken with precision
  • The location of multiple marquees (around the Polo Club) warranted a large marquee team to ensure everything was in place when required
  • Being a public event, the marquees needed to erected without any risk to people safety
  • The location was on a very open part of the Dallas Burston Polo Club and weather was extremely windy !

The Solution

A bunch of cars are parked in a grassy field

Aston Martin Heritage Trust approached Zest Marquees to provide and install a large marquee, together with 2 smaller support marquees, and we immediately arranged a site visit. The volume and weight of the equipment meant that a  4 man team  and 2 vehicles were required. Set up on grass though provided great and suitable ground to provide sufficient stability. Other considerations included the constraints of working within a very public area – the main marquee was a ‘centre piece’ given it was home to very prestigious  motor vehicles – and time was of the essence.

Given access to the grounds , the team had to have the marquee up and ready prior to the due arrival of the cars, plus ensure there would be access for the transporters to unload. It’s at times like this that teamwork and good liaison with both client and venue really counts, along with the ability to be resourceful and flexible in our approach.

With the marquee erected in time, we were able to ensure that AMHT had enough time to position the showcase cars well ahead of the Aston Martin enthusiasts arriving.  We continued to help out –  providing 2 additional marquees for ticket entry and the selling of club memorabilia.

Marquee Features

A large white tent is sitting in the middle of a lush green field.
  • "Open" aspect marquee to enable clear viewing
  • Sturdy canopy for protection against the weather elements
  • Picket fence to screen Aston Martin Cars
  • Fully covered marquee for The AMHT club to host their "shop"
  • Trestle tables
  • Separate ticket marquee to provide the main entrance to the show

When creating unforgettable marquee events, it's not just about the structure or the setting—it's about the atmosphere. And nothing elevates the atmosphere quite like live entertainment. Whether planning a dreamy wedding reception, a lively corporate party, or a garden celebration with friends, incorporating the right entertainment can take your event from memorable to legendary.

When planning a marquee event, the catering setup is one of the most important decisions you'll make. Whether you're hosting a wedding, corporate function, birthday party, or festival, the food and drink you provide can make or break the experience for your guests. But with so many catering options available—buffet, sit-down dining, food trucks, or even grazing tables—it can be challenging to decide which setup works best for your event.

Spring is in the air, and Easter is the perfect excuse to gather family and friends for a fun-filled celebration! As the season of renewal, Easter events are all about fresh air, colourful décor, and making special memories. However, the unpredictable British weather can often dampen outdoor plans. That's where a marquee comes in!

Team-building activities are essential for fostering collaboration, boosting morale, and strengthening workplace relationships. But instead of the usual boardroom setting, why not take your corporate event outdoors? Hiring a marquee offers a versatile, weatherproof space where your team can engage in fun and meaningful activities without the constraints of an indoor venue.
